ABT Guidelines

Members Basic Chat Etiquette

Choose a username that is NOT offensive or sexually suggestive, please do not use an email or site address. Once chosen stick with it… if a change is necessary inform A Moderator. Don’t use ALL CAPITAL LETTERS IN YOUR TEXT. Not only is this difficult to read, but on the internet, it is considered shouting.

Your arrival will be announced on the screen. Assuming that there is an ongoing discussion started it is polite to wait a short while to catch the drift of the current conversation or receive welcoming messages. This courtesy is ‘expected’ in ALL the reading rooms in Chat where Moderators will quickly silence interrupters.

Be polite and civil to other chat room users at all times. Do not be rude, insulting, offensive, snide, obnoxious or abusive towards other members.

The chat rooms can be for serious debates or lighthearted and playful. Do not hesitate to shift to another room if a topic doesn’t interest you or makes you feel uncomfortable. Personality conflicts may occur, please do not let a dislike of one person affect your stay with us. IGNORE is also a viable and mature option. Please do not air personal grievances in the public channel.

Chat Readings – Etiquette For Sitters

If you wish to have time with a specific reader and they are for the moment unavailable, leave a request on the Members Readings board. Every Reader has a BIO/ Request/ Feedback page.

Please enter reading rooms quietly DO NOT interrupt a reading to request one for yourself. If there is someone with the reader assume there is a reading going on and enter quietly. If a reader is in their room, alone, it is safe to go in and ask for a reading.

It is a no-no to pester for readings. Dependency on psychics is not encouraged. Psychic Members can take requests or feel drawn to read, therefore we can’t set a specific limit on how many readings a member is offered. However, excessive reading requests are frowned upon and may be deleted from the forum boards without further notice.

Sitters should reply with only simple answers for validation (yes, no, maybe, close). Readings should not turn into conversations. Too much information taints the confirmations for both the sitter and the reader. Validations may be explained after the reading has ended.

Please do not throw questions at the readers during a reading, unless the reader specifically asked if you have questions. It is a huge distraction for the reader’s focus to be pulled from one direction to another. If you don’t restrain yourself, the reader’s flow is disrupted and your reading can abruptly end.

DO NOT FORGET FEEDBACK for the readers on their bios. They are freely helping, it is polite to say thanks. The feedback is not only confidence building for the readers, but it also shows appreciation and helps for readers who wish to be upgraded to be noticed by Administration. If you get a reputation for withholding feedback, the readers will pull back.

Chat Readings – Etiquette For Developing Psychics

A ‘Developing Psychic’ may only read to another Member in chat if there is a Moderator present. Please speak to the MODerator before doing so.

ALL PRACTICE readings and healings must take place in the ‘Development & Practice’ room or ‘Healing Circle’, under the guidance and direction of a Moderator.

Private readings in chat PMs, the Forums or offsite are NOT permitted. Please understand that this condition is a precaution, both for the safety of the sitter and the reputation of the readers. Public readings on this site are the only way to earn respect and credibility within the community. Please do not take advantage of our memberships to invite members off-site for private readings. Anybodythere.net will not tolerate anyone using ‘Chat’ to solicit payments for readings or market other services without expressed permission from the site’s Administrator.

Sitters must give their permission to be read. With due respect, not everyone is open to receiving a reading. If drawn to a member please ask before proceeding.

A psychic medium usually feels drawn to a certain person to read for. However, we are understanding that sometimes ‘random’ spirits do present themselves. We ask the readers to end, after 5 minutes (or so) if no validated link with a sitter has been established.
