Is it possible to actually separate oneself from Creator?

Depends on a person belief system.
My creator believes we are all gods hence to achieve our highest vibration. This means we have the abilities to create, heal, walk without guilt many times traditional religion makes ppl feel guilty for loving someone or wanting more such as money, happiness a better job and so on and why you asked that question of separation from creator because ppl feel bound to that teaching that was from an old way of thinking. Mine says to be happy with oneself strive and reach your desires, stand in your own power.
